Editorial Policy
Last updated:
Our reviews and rankings aren't for sale, and we check facts against official sources before we publish.
Editorial Independence
Canada Communications Company (CanComCo) runs CloudBasedPOSSystem.com. CanComCo also helps businesses find the right POS vendor and earns commissions from some POS providers when a business it refers buys from them. That gives us a commercial interest, so we keep commercial relationships separate from editorial decisions.
No one can buy a favorable review, a guaranteed ranking, a higher score or the removal of legitimate criticism. That rule covers POS vendors, payment companies, software providers, advertisers and commercial partners. See our Affiliate Disclosure for how we earn money.
Sourcing and Fact-Checking
We fact-check every review, comparison, guide and product page, using primary sources wherever possible. Before we publish, we check important claims against current official sources. These include pricing, transaction fees, supported hardware, integrations, contract requirements, geographic availability and major product features.
Our checks may draw on:
- Official vendor websites and pricing pages
- Product documentation, knowledge bases and official help centers
- Terms of service and contract information
- Product demonstrations, and trial or sandbox accounts
- Direct communication with the vendor
- Payment processor documentation
- App marketplaces and integration directories
- Government or regulatory sources for tax, privacy or compliance information
When we can't verify something on our own, we say so. We label it as unverified, vendor-provided, estimated or subject to confirmation, and we don't present it as fact.
Handling Vendor Relationships
Vendors can:
- Send factual corrections
- Supply updated product information
- Give us access to demos or trial environments
- Clarify pricing or product features
- Respond to criticism
- Tell us about outdated information
Vendors can't:
- Vendors can't dictate our conclusions, review scores, rankings, recommendations or wording.
If a vendor disputes a review, we examine the evidence and correct factual errors where needed. We won't change an accurate assessment because a vendor disagrees with it or threatens to withdraw advertising, affiliate access, partnerships or other commercial benefits.
Corrections and Updates
2 business days to investigate
3 business days to correct
We aim to investigate a reported factual error within 2 business days and to correct a confirmed material error within 3 business days in most cases.
A material error is one that could affect a buying decision, such as pricing, transaction fees, product availability, contract terms, features or a review's conclusion. We note material corrections on the affected page. We fix minor issues, such as spelling, formatting or wording, without a formal correction notice. Past corrections appear in our Corrections Log.
Each review shows who reviewed it (“Reviewed by”) and when we last updated it (“Last Updated”).
